The Deep Core, sometimes referred to as the Core of the Galaxy, was a brightly lit region of the galaxy that lay at its very heart. A densely packed mass of stars and planets, the Deep Core was dangerous to navigate and largely left alone by galactic explorers. At its center existed an ancient, supermassive black hole that bound the galaxy together.

By the fifth year of Emperor Palpatine's reign, the Galactic Empire controlled a part of that region referred to as the Deep Core Security Zone. Kren Blista-Vanee, a member of Palpatine's Imperial Ruling Council, had been instrumental to the creation of hyperspace routes into the star systems of the Deep Core.

KEY

This symbol marks a world that was first created for a canon literary source (reference books, novels, young adult novels, etc.) Other entries with literary sources have Legends counterparts.

This symbol marks a world that was ‘canonized’ in a recent Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying sourcebook. Wookieepedia considers the FFG material fully canon but its mix of Legends and canon content puts it somewhere in the middle. I decided to include these worlds in the Archive, for inclusiveness.

This symbol marks an entry as a moon. And since moons can be just as populated and culturally or historically significant as a planet (think Nar Shaddaa and Yavin IV), the distinction was important.

This symbol marks an entry as a moon and created for a canon literary source.

This symbol marks a world that saw significant military conflict during the Clone Wars (22 BBY - 19 BBY).

This symbol marks a world that saw significant military conflict during the Galactic Civil War (0 BBY - 5 ABY).

This symbol marks a world that saw significant military conflict during the war between the First Order and the Resistance (34 ABY - ? BBY).

Note:

If a world's only "canon" source in Wookieepedia is The Force Awakens Beginner Roleplaying Game, it will not be included in this collection.

ALOXL

An arid and hot world, the planet Aloxl had an unusual ellipse around its gigantic star causing a 125 year hot season, and a 25 year cool season. Uninhabitable during its hot cycle, species that could withstand high temperatures could sustain themselves below ground in subterranean caverns.

Cerberon system.
A mountainous world, with jade-flecked stone gray peaks. Their brittle upper reaches were cushioned by pale fungi that lived on the heat of the solar projectors that gave the world the illusion of day in the sunless system. Into the slopes of a mountain housed a city, intricately

chipped into a band of streets and temples and palaces. The Children of the Empty Sun cult was based in a white-and-azure palace in the city. Catadra was the New Republic's second target in the system, leaving much of the city in ruination.

DYBRIN 12

A moon situated in the Deep Core region of the galaxy. In spite of its blisteringly hot climate and poisonous, highly pressurized atmosphere, it was home to living organisms, including the sentient Dybrinthe species. Using mobile refinery-cities, the Dybrinthe clans

exploited the natural fuel that bubbled up from the moon's extensive subterranean oceans. Since most offworlders could not survive on Dybrin 12, visitors were usually confined to space stations orbiting the moon.

FEX

Fex was a moon of Sha Qarot that orbited a red star. It had an unusual purple landscape ranging from pale lavenders to deep violets. High silica and mineral content in the soils resulted in crystal structures. Many of the herbivorous creatures that lived on Fex possessed crystalline

spikes growing around their heads or on their backs. Some species could even withdraw their heads into a highly armored body cavity. The spikes evolved to protect their wearers from Fexian skullborers, brain-sucking predators that lurked in the trees above.

Cerberon system.
The moon of Catadra, it had once been inhabited but had been left to fast-growing crystalline brambles called dirkweed for the better part of a millennium. The weed’s dull, slate-blue hue seemed to tinge the atmosphere, as if the whole world were obscured by campfire smoke.

TROITHE

j   D E E P   C O R E   j

Cerberon system.
A world with two continents; one torn apart by mining machines centuries ago, and the other a sprawling, ancient city. The city-continent consisted of everything from towers and skyscrapers, domed opera houses and tram lines to aging factories, foundries and industrial parks. Some districts of the city included the Gloried Chalice, Highgarden, Thannerhouse, and Cybersynth Districts. Solar projectors cast light to create the illusion of daytime due to the blackhole in the center of the system. Centuries earlier, Troithe had rivaled Coruscant as the Republic’s cosmopolitan jewel, teeming with billions of residents–more than a few belonging to the Republic’s most respected aristo-mercantile families. But as Coruscant’s production had waxed, Troithe’s waned due to exhaustion of

mineral resources, Cerberon's decreasing accessibility in an expanding Republic and a civil war between the mixed-species underclass and the majority human population. By the Clone Wars, it settled into a slow decline. Emperor Palpatine had promised the world restored prominence, and with those promises somewhat kept, a substational portion of the populaiton still retained Imperial sympathies after Endor. A New Republic battle group led by General Hera Syndulla fought for the world, believing that the system could be used as a shortcut between Core Worlds. Two consecutive battles saw the Republic forces gain then lose control of the world–only to gain control once more when the remains of the Imperial 204th Fighter Wing fled the system.
